This being a conspiracy theory is so disappointing to hear, I prefer my nazis far away.

I don’t speak Mandarin so I just share what I’ve heard from a friend who does. Supposedly there are very little rules to explain and other than writing system and how exotic it is, it’s one of the easier languages to learn. All of this sounds perfect for Duolingo. IIRC TikTok is rather top heavy in terms of income and this highest tier of influencers is diversified across all media channels anyway.

Regular folk have better luck making money on YouTube and Instagram so TikTok creators are unusual bunch. In my experience (which is very likely shaped by the algorithm) they are a mix of talent show performers, odd personalities and no longer relevant one hit wonders that got lucky. They’re mostly sad about losing that space because it’s so different to alternatives. I don’t think anyone that doesn’t have much money feels in power anymore so what are they going to do?

It should, especially in Germany which has extra strong net laws. For example, Reddit had a special content report path based on German regulations where you have to confirm you’re a citizen. I believe it’s been a thing for years now.

You’re not going to win by waiting for old people to die off. We reproduce in lower numbers than before and tendency to go disillusioned as you grow older remains a constant. Currently that disillusionment is being harvested by far right but that’s entirely on how the left lost credibility in the west after allying itself with liberal elites.
