Yeah the lock in is sad. Apparently it’s really important that airdrop exists even when people only use it to mess with their coworkers. Signal is too much effort to install or learn. Etc etc.
it does take time, as an early google adopter it took until the early 2010s before I’d had enough of their trash and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I’d fully decoupled from Google, but it’s not like I worked on it for a decade. I worked on it for a few hours, a day or two per year, for a decade. Most of the switching effort is time. (Ok here’s how you reach me now.
