wtf
Is that for real? Do companies always make such donations to new presidents or is this a new thing specifically for Trump?

Apple has recently declared that they’re keeping their DEI programs in contrast to other tech companies, so I suppose Lemmy crowd would approve that? Their CEO being openly gay since 2014 probably works as some sort of a guarantee, at least as long as he keeps being the CEO.
So I’ll suggest: Apple hardware + icloud. User experience (with apple hardware) 10/10. Pricing: Hardware price + monthly cost.
Monthly cost depends on geographical location and storage size, but in EU area per month:
That storage and cost can be shared with up to 5 family members.
I used this for a long time and it worked really really well. But it really does practically depend on having Apple devices, preferably on every level. I recently moved to Proton because I wanted to move to Linux, but I do miss the UX quite a lot. Icloud’s web service isn’t bad though and might work for you but probably not.

Well firstly, virtue signaling is not fundamentally a bad thing. Devil is in the details.
Second, that’s kinda rich coming from the guy who’s been nothing but virtue signaling towards the upcoming Trump admin since his failed assassination attempt.
I have investigated the idea and came to the conclusion that immutable distros are essentially a research project. They attempt to advance the state-of-art a slight bit but the cost is currently too great.
Perhaps somebody will some day create something that’s worth switching to. But I don’t think that has happened yet, or is happening with any of the current distros. Silverblue might become that with enough polish, but I feel that to get that amount of polish, they would have to make Silverblue the 1st class citizen, i.e. the default install of Fedora.
Interesting way to be wrong. While thinking you’re being correct.
All of these applications (yes, also Lemmy and Mastodon) are feed for the AI machine. That’s where the money is.
And ads probably.
I mean it kinda already is a Twitter, just 5 years in the past.
His grand vision remains to leave Mastodon users in control of the social network, making their own decisions about what content is allowed or what appears in their timelines.
So uh… Mastodon will not have a moderation team?
I mean this makes sense, but how exactly is after-stopping-moderation Meta different then?
Good call.
How to delete is not the problem. That’s the trivial part. In fact, you don’t even need to delete your account. Just stop using it and it’s practically the same effect.
The problem is how to get your friends and acquintances out of there. Lots of things are there and only there. Like for instance, it’s my jujitsu club’s main place of information. If I quit FB, I will no longer know what’s happening there.

Sure that would be a much better situation than the current free-for-all and practically no control possibilities for the parents – short of never giving them physical access to devices.
Ah, right. It’s possible yes that this would make it easier for them, but my understanding of technology is that it was pretty much possible like 10 years ago to track practically everyone who isn’t actively doing a countermeasures against it.
This is a terrible idea, and only makes it 10x easier for surveillance capitalism to track, profile, and propagandize the entire population.
I don’t see how that follows. Can you elaborate?
I found kind and supportive influences as a minor that kept me away from the hate/conservatism/fascism that many of my classmates descended into.
Do you think your classmates found those influences from somewhere outside the internet? At least in Europe, the alt-right has been way more efficient at reaching young people online, especially boys and men.
Actually verifying it and punishing the companies if they let underaged people use it. Alcohol stores are also punished when they sell products to children.

Normal people do give a shit about LGBTQ
Normal people do not give a shit about LGBTQ, and I mean that in the best possible way. Unless it’s shoved right in their face, in which case they will most likely be put out by it. Pretty much the same concept as with other (often important) things that rampant activism turns into something abhorrent.
Seems like this is somewhat normal though: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/yes-it-s-common-for-large-corporations-to-donate-to-presidential-inaugurations/vi-AA1xg9ML#details
What an American thing.
