Well three popes have died since 2005.

I was totally surprised over how much I loved this game. It was free on Epic a while back.
If they hadn’t disabled offline accounts and simply asked me to upgrade nicely I’d have probably done it years ago.
There’s already alternatives, why not just let them take over? Trump complained about the US giving up DNS, now he’s complaining about CVE. He wants to control everything but doesn’t want to pay for it.
Apparently exports to the US accounts for 2% of China’s GDP.
I’m not as against this as everyone else. If you want a AAA game without microtransactions, in-game advertising, and all the other bullshit you get nowadays, you’re gonna have to expect the company will want to make that money up in other places. Games have been like £50/$60 since the N64 days and we’ve been lucky that the prices haven’t risen with inflation.
I just installed openSUSE last night and I was thinking at the time about how crappy and dated the installer is. I mean, it does the job if you know what you’re doing but it certainly doesn’t even try to make it easy for anyone non-techie.
I’m not really a fan of Calamares, I think the whole concept of booting into an OS and then using it to install another OS is a bit weird and could confuse people.
I don’t think it’s ever going to happen without corporate backing. Maybe community run efforts can afford to have a few volunteers do some coding in their spare time, but volunteers don’t generally want to work on the boring stuff like the polish that users expect nowadays, and they’re never going to be able to run things like R&D, focus groups, etc, to get ahead of Fortune 500 companies. All they can do is see what works and copy, that’s basically all the community developed stuff has ever done.
Look at ChromeOS, it’s already got more users than Linux. If the Year of Linux ever happens it’ll look more like the Year of Chrome
I’m not going to use this myself but I don’t know why everyone’s complaining about it so much. It requires opt-in, it does all the processing locally, and if someone nefarious gets to the point they can read this stuff then they’ll already be able to record your screen, log keystrokes, etc. I expect it won’t be straightforward to view the data as well, it’s not just gonna be a folder full of jpegs.
I’m glad that people are actually trying to make interesting features still. OSs have been so boring years now, it’s good to see people actually trying to introduce standout features even if they are controversial. More of this I say.
Pretty rich coming from China and their actions in the South China Sea.
According to the Wikipedia article they changed their mind and decided to stay on LiMux.
Imagine if you could go on the Nintendo store and buy a game you couldn’t even run, or had to check a third party website to see if it ran acceptably and let you use all the buttons.
I searched it and found there were some cases of people being asked to login when they used the clock app but it appears to have been a bug.
US vehicle manufacturers will just put up their prices by 24%.
We learnt about it at school, but England has a lot of history to learn and other than “it’s bad” it doesn’t exactly have a whole lot of relevance as far as applications go. The modern issues with racism are a bit more nuanced than “people who look different are animals”.
It doesn’t exactly look 25 years better.
If they know Siri’s shit then why can’t I have my power button back?
I can sort of see why it’s not been a priority for them. Outside of the US nobody uses SMS or the built in text apps. I just went through my phone and I haven’t had a text message that wasn’t business related since July.
I don’t want a small phone, I just want a normal phone that I can use in one of my normal sized hands. I have an iPhone 13 Mini right now and it’s pretty ideal but I know they’ll go end of life one day and there’s nothing to replace it right now.
I’m surprised they’re remastering this one when Morrowind seems to be remember more fondly. I was around when Oblivion came out the first time and it was good but not great, Skyrim seemed like an upgraded version of the same thing.
