I’m a software developer and my company is piloting the use of LLMs via Copilot right now. All of them suck to varying degrees, but everyone’s consensus is that GPT5 is the worst of them. (To be fair, no one has tested Grok, but that’s because no one in the company wants to.)

On top of that, there’s so much AI slop all over the internet now that the training for their models is going to get worse, not better.

They’ll ask their parents, or look up cooking instructions on actual websites.

Venture capital drying up.

Here’s the thing… No LLM provider’s business is making a profit. None of them. Not OpenAI. Not Anthropic. Not even Google (they’re profitable in other areas, obviously). OpenAI optimistically believes it might start being profitable in 2029.

What’s keeping them afloat? Venture capital. And what happens when those investors decide to stop throwing good money after bad?

Oh, you can fuck right off with that nonsense. I’m not both-sidesing anything. Israel committed (and is going to commit, almost certainly) more genocide. They are absolutely the bad guys here. Acknowledging that Hamas hasn’t been good for Palestine either isn’t at all the same thing as pretending they’re as bad as a country committing genocide.

I don’t expect elections before the end of occupation. I am 100% in favor of Israel getting the fuck out of Palestine, and fully support a Palestinian state.

It’s just important to be realistic about Hamas.

It’s Hamas. They existed as a terrorist organization long before now, and they’ve ruled Gaza without elections since the mid-2000’s. Israel is 1000 times worse - like I said, they’ve got a taste for genocide. But that doesn’t mean it’s pleasant to be a Palestinian caught between the two.

Yeah, this “peace” isn’t going to last a week, sadly. The Israeli government has a taste for genocide now and likes it, while Hamas doesn’t know how to stop being murderous terrorists. Mix the two together, you get… a lot of dead innocents who made the mistake of existing in Gaza.

Unfortunately, we have a first-past-the-post election system in most of the country (a very few places have ranked-choice). What that means is that most of the time, voting for anyone besides a Democrat or a Republican amounts to throwing your vote away.

That’s disheartening. I’ve been under the impression that even most of your conservatives generally find Republicans to be completely cuckoo. Is that not the case?

Not sure this guy understands that if that actually happened, no Republican would ever win the presidency again, and the House and Senate would instantly flip to the Democrats.

Not yet, but come on… It’s Russia. No one actually believes Belgium or Finland or some other EU country did it.

Mystery Russian drone sightings

We all know Russia is doing these, right?

Would be exceptionally counterproductive if Denmark traced one back to Ukraine. Definitely wouldn’t be worth the risk of pissing off allies.

There are tricks to getting better output from it, especially if you’re using Copilot in VS Code and your employer is paying for access to models, but it’s still asking for trouble if you’re not extremely careful, extremely detailed, and extremely precise with your prompts.

And even then it absolutely will fuck up. If it actually succeeds at building something that technically works, you’ll spend considerable time afterwards going through its output and removing unnecessary crap it added, fixing duplications, securing insecure garbage, removing mocks (God… So many fucking mocks), and so on.

I think about what my employer is spending on it a lot. It can’t possibly be worth it.

Yeah, code bloat with LLMs is fucking monstrous. If you use them, get used to immediately scouring your code for duplications.

Bullshit. We’re hungry for Russia to stop fucking with the rest of the world, and for Russian trolls to stop playing these stupid games of “let’s you and him fight.” We’re also hungry for people like you to realize the EU is not the United States, and this isn’t Dubya going on about imaginary WMDs in Iraq.

In case you have forgotten, Russia is already occupying another country’s territory after launching a brutal, unprovoked invasion. They’ve already demonstrated a willingness to engage in both conventional and hybrid warfare to steal land and destroy cultures they consider illegitimate.

Stop fucking defending them.

Wait… You’re proposing that Ukraine would feel like stirring shit up with Denmark, because it would somehow get Russia to stop focusing on them?

First off, no they’re not. The whole point of a military drone is to have a military asset that’s hard to detect. And advantages in aerodynamics, fuel consumption, noise, and difficulty to track drop exponentially as size increases.

Secondly, you need specialized radar systems present in the area to specifically detect drones and differentiate them from birds, as I’ve already said. When the drones departed - assuming they did, since the Danish government isn’t actually saying what happened with them - they would have left the range of the specialized systems. Denmark doesn’t have drone detection systems covering their whole country.

Third, Finland and Lithuania have also recently had their airspaces invaded by drones. Which appeared to be coming from Russia.

Fourth, Copenhagen is the location for the upcoming EU summit. No EU member would have any reason to test the defenses in Denmark prior to sending their own representatives there. Russia would, if it’s getting more aggressive… Which it is.

The drones were almost certainly Russian. No one else has any reason to send them. Stop carrying water for Vladimir Putin.
