I never understood why people chose that as a meeting place for communities knowing that all the knowledge thrown in there is useless.

That’s not tech. That’s company policies.

Streaming services, as a tech has evolved and it’s a better technology that it was before. New encoding formats allow for transfer of more data over less bandwidth for instance.

Online communications, as in forums as such, as also evolved with new and better ways of posting, and better security (I remember when websites just stored your password in plain text).

What people complain about are mostly company policies, not technology. Netflix charging more for less content, or Reddit banning third party apps are not tech. Those things are not developed. They are just a company decision.

And company decisions are as bad as always. People also got screw by companies in the 90s. People who just notice more now is because now they are older.

Not everyone wants to socially interact. That’s something to respect.

I tend to prioritize not-human services, as social interaction exhaust me.

When I used to work with customers I really didn’t like when people starting talking about unnecessary staff. The less I had to interact the better for me.

Times change. I see nothing wrong with it. Same as you used to be able to park without paying, then you started to pay, and now it’s moving from those machines to phone apps. And in the future there may be other form of pay, or maybe parking is directly forbidden o who knows what but there will be a change, for sure. Because things change.

It’s just nostalgia working. Things change. You were more capable of dealing with change at a younger age and that’s why you see the older the people get the more they complain about everything.

But is just a change, like many other that came before that.

As the world become more and more noisy. And people become more a more shitty with regards of doing noise without care about how it affects others. ANC become a necessity for some people.

I used it a few days ago to translate a math formula into code.

It’s not the most complicated thing. I could have done it. But it would take me some time. I just input the formula directly, the desired language and the result was well done and worked flawlessly.

It saved me some time typing around. And searching online a few things.

There’s zero relationship between data being unencrypted and it being sent to chinese servers.

If you use a chinese service it’s obvious that data is going to be sent to a chinese server and that the chinese server would be able to read it.

Unencrypted data transfer, it’s a totally different thing. I would like to see if it’s truly unencrypted or just not using apple proprietary encryption.

I luckily don’t own any apple product, but I have deepseek app on my android device. If I’m bored later I’ll try to intercept my own data to see if it’s truly unencrypted. This is easy to test. If it’s not true that newspaper is going to my “block list” asap.

Marketing within a capitalist market be like that for every product.

I have thought a lot on it. The LLM per se would not know if the question is answerable or not, as it doesn’t know if their output is good of bad.

So there’s various approach to this issue:

1. The classic approach, and the one used for censoring: keywords. When the llm gets a certain key word or it can get certain keyword by digesting a text input then give back a hard coded answer. Problem is that while censoring issues are limited. Hard to answer questions are unlimited, hard to hard code all.

2. Self check answers. For everything question the llm could process it 10 times with different seeds. Then analyze the results and see if they are equivalent. If they are not then just answer that it’s unsure about the answer. Problem: multiplication of resource usage. For some questions like the one in the post, it’s possible than the multiple randomized answers give equivalent results, so it would still have a decent failure rate.

He is definitely in the same list as Trump and Elon Musk.

They are not random per se. They are just statistical with just some degree of randomization.

That happens when do you not understand what is a llm, or what its usecases are.

This is like not being impressed by a calculator because it cannot give a word synonym.
