There are a couple of side missions I cannot finish (the NPCs are dead off screen lol). And for some reason I cannot get into one of the bases(the door was shut). Very stalker experience lol

4·10 months agoDamn. I thought these kinds of things only exist for a fully automated society, where AI and robots replace all the jobs, and everybody gets UBI. Some people might have nothing else to do, so they voluntarily go to (role play) work so they have a predictable life filled with purpose.
I wish it opens a prompt asking a list of permissions when open for the first time. Like, VSCodium always needs local file system access, VPN clients always need network interface permission, etc.
Yeah, we have Flatseal, but it should be automated by the publisher to have a list of prerequisite permissions.

4·1 year agoSome of the old games are… not designed to run on modern hardware. Call of Juarez, for example, runs very poorly (frame drops and crashes)

Now they just use LLM to generate formulas to calculate tariffs that fit their fantasy. Gosh I wish they actually taste their own failure for once not just constantly fail up.
This. Use Amazon to find the brand, and go to their website to buy directly. The seller website is the same price on the surface, but you can almost always get a coupon that’s cheaper than Amazon. (Amazon FBA charges like 30%)

Linux@programming.dev•30 Lines of Code Could Cut Data Center Power Use by 30%
2·1 year agoI fully agree. Sadly, in reality, mid-level managers will happily sacrifice quality for speed, and before the whole thing falls apart, they move to another company with better pay.

5·1 year agoI said nothing about the difficulty of learning. JS/TS developers are easier to find and are cheaper, and the current climate wants everybody to be full-stack developers. The cost savings of Go isn’t there :(

Linux@programming.dev•30 Lines of Code Could Cut Data Center Power Use by 30%
291·1 year agoBecause programmer hourly pay is way higher than server hourly cost. Abundant nodejs developers can pump shitty code faster, therefore delivering features faster. That’s all shareholders care about.
It’s a solved problem! Try https://containers.dev/
Artists can just clone the repo and open your project with a supported editor(like VSCode). Done. You can write a config that says what base OS, install packages, and install VSCode extensions (via VSCode workspace settings).
Many projects use this setup and it has been magical.

31·1 year agoI feel like they have some sweet deals with publishers that only when people download a game for the first time does the license get activated. Or you just have an IOU license. Just a speculation tho.
