Another thing is google results. When I want a recommendation for anything I will add “Reddit” to my query. This is because I know it will return great recommendations and conversations that help me decide. Hopefully I will eventually be able to just use Lemmy for this.

I don’t think so. There’s no good alternative to Facebook that is worth leaving it for. When MySpace died, there was a significantly better alternative (FB). Even if people quit using Facebook regularly, they’ll need to keep it.

Me-first politics is so convincing to so many people. And so easy to manipulate to benefit the powerful.

In America, Republicans I know would call Trump’s tax a great achievement because they got $50 a month in tax breaks. Meanwhile corporations and the mega wealthy were the only ones really benefiting from it.

They get all the nsfw traffic for the full quarter, and use that for their earnings report. Pretty damn dishonest.

The point is that the people who were attacking Biden for his Israel policies were just Trump supporters (and literal bots) that were masquerading as passionate Israel supporter. They didn’t give a shit about who would be best for Palestine, they just wanted to get Trump elected.

We know this now by the silence from those people now. End game was achieved when Trump got elected.

Not all people with bullshit opinions are bots. But I think the bots make those people think their opinions are more valid than they actually are, which causes them to be more active.
