Nice observation. Nonetheless it is wrong in any circumstance.

Haha, that also came to mind, it’s pretty poor. Paraphrasing: "Users on Metacritic saying it “ruined” the online mode - an indicator that they are very displeased. "
You don’t say? 😄
This was such a nice read! I can totally feel that you are inspired by old video game magazines. Feels so fresh and your personality really does shines through 😊
Also gifs convey so much at a glimpse, no gaming site should use just Screenshots I’m convinced now 😅. No really, I got interested in a few games on the list just because I “felt” them way more than seeing Screenshots on some news site.
I love those posts, thank you so much.
With Captain blood and tridents tale we even have 2 pirate themed games today. I am surprised by Captain blood, I know quite some niche stuff in video games, but never heard of it.
The one click mods coming to gog are really cool, allows you to step in a curated alternative form of a beloved game without the hassle. I’m curious what we will get there. I could imagine a version for gothic 1, which is such an interesting game, but very clunky - but there are fan patches to address that.
Btw. I see an “Arari” where it should probably be “Atari”. Not to nitpick, but rather to express my appreciation for the post.
I’m also looking forward to the next remedy release, those guys are very special to me.
Again, thanks for the writeup, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also the wider look including the PS2 and gog office rooms. ☀️
Get well PerfectDark ❤️

Yeah it’s really no replacement but it feels special to some extend. ☀️

I would mostly agree. The magic of video games and the virtual worlds was bridged to the real world by sharing them with friends. I can totally see that!
I guess “modern” gaming works best when playing online with friends (not every game allows that of course), and wind down type of games. Self care gaming 😄.
I had some great moments though screensharing my game on discord while being able to watch what my friend was playing on their screenshare. There is something - even though that it is not exactly what you were hinting at, as obviously you can’t directly influence the game that the other is playing - but it is a shared experience in some way that makes it feel connected and special.
That post gave me food for thought.

That’s going to gather some attention from the big publishers.
Would be interested what you fedis think about that?
edit: interested in opinions regarding the news as the game is surrounded by quite a bit of controversy, not “just” the publishers part I mentioned.

Just wanted to leave some appreciation here. I like that the blog post is so concise but still nicely follow able. Also it seems to prove the loading times quite a bit even though the solution is somewhat rudimentary. Love the spirit 😊

😄 I actually think that is a fair point you make. I am waiting patiently for a full version that I can install on a living room pc. So for me there is also no immediate benefit, yet, as you put it. I still see the development very positively!

Is there a possibility to play a campaign in online coop?

yeah, I guessed something like that happened, but either way, nice to see to get more linux coverage! 😊

For now not that spectacular, it’s the base for upcoming tests. Nice to see though and hopefully we can see Linux based benchmarks more commonly in the future

Good point!

The editor confusing smaa with supersampling irks me more than it maybe should 😅 Guess more confirmation to always rather look at the sources.

Nah, sounds like the rendering is simply broken at the time. When you turn off fsr it still seems to render lower than native.

It indicates bad decision making by the company at the time? Just as the other points mentioned. 🤔

Hey just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your perspective. I know that unions result, in general, in better working conditions. However me as a customer not only supporting such companies, if I choose so, but also benefitting from better products in general is a nice perspective. food for thought!

The atmosphere of the first pic is beautiful 😊

That’s such a cool way finding niche games. Keep the news coming 😊
I found this, looks interesting https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q7kjtvNuaHs
First time that I read the article (it’s a few years old).
What stands out to me is the following:
a) the one thing keeping heavy monitization and fully eroding of User privacy within the app at bay is the strong encryption - if Facebook finds a way to get rid of it (or maybe they are contempt with the ways they found to link Metadata to users?), that’s a step they are going to do. b) the moment one sells the company/ownership switches to a publicly traded company, even when you have employees fighting against it, it goes downhill from there. Even if you are competent and have the willpower and dedication and standing to advocate for the right path, you mitigate at best - and only for some time.
c) and finally the big force in all of that: in the article you’ll find Zuckerberg communicating to the WhatsApp that Wallstreet expects growth. Growth that they need to provide by compromising WhatsApps integrity.
Once you are part of the publicy traded world, agency and independency is lost to an extend that is not recoverable. I see it time and time again.
