I got the first DSL in france, a fucking VCR sized box that fried after a couple of months too… The deal wasn’t the incredible 128Kb/s but that it was online all the time…

It quickly doubled up to .5Mb and then slowly up to 20Mb before I went with fiber some maybe 8-9 years ago. But I rarely felt hampered.

Then people still flock up on centralised systems.

I’m not in the USA but layoffs happen all the time when the economy contracts, the thing is they always need an excuse, and I don’t know is AI is really eating up jobs (I sort of doubt it, at least for now) but man is it the best excuse ever.

Yes, that was a beast! I was poor and had to wait and got the generation after, the 3770K and already the segmentation was there, I got overlooking possibilities but not the VM stuff…

It’s like reverse moses.

They really segmented that market in the worst possible way, 2 cores and 4 cores only, possibility to use vms or overclock, and so on. Add windoze eating up every +5%/year.

Remember buying the 2600(maybe X) and it was soo fast.
