Using a VPN for torrents and forgetting to set it up to kill the network connection when VPN is lost. Got a couple “love letters” from my ISP that way.

He needs to slow it down because it’s very noticably aging him. Kids, don’t bake your skin in cancer rays just for some outdated 80s “bronze” Baywatch look.
Actually, maybe he needs to do even more sessions now that I think about it.
Pretending? The upper class of capitalists have always favored the right. They’ll allow the milquetoast Dems but lock out people like Bernie just to make it look like there’s political choice.

It’s not that I don’t like it, I couldn’t care less. But as an example, let’s see, how about, almost a hundred years of straight heterosexual cisgender couples sucking face in the vast majority of movies and TV shows ever produced? Or the vast majority of romantic literature? I can think of many more.
We are talking about the general public sphere, not here.
Can we get people to also then stop shoving their cisgender straightness down our throats as well? Would only be fair.
Back in the day, I had just envisioned storage media getting more and more dense, to the point where we might be using some kinda holographic cube or some shit in the future to store petabytes of data.
I never thought of the entire world just constantly streaming and downloading everything around the planet on demand. The state of Internet bandwidth in those days made it hard to imagine.
Some time ago, the industry seemed to have standardized on a cheap-ass all in one platter/motor/stylus assembly that’s just dropped into every modern record player now. I think I started seeing that thing everywhere in the late 80s. They did the same to tape players. It’s now just an entire chassis containing the play head, motor, etc where they just make a shell to go around it and a circuit board to drive it/amplify it.

Oh well, then who am I to argue? Let’s hope for an engine failure on landing then…
Not that much risk with just going straight up and falling back in an oversized bottle rocket. I’d do it. LEO and beyond is a different story.
Also I think Musk’s plan may have been to send indentured servants on a one way colonization trip, I don’t remember him actually saying he himself will be going. The oligarchs are starting to eyeball the unfathomable wealth scattered through the solar system as Earth gets squeezed dry. Get ready now for the classic robber barons, but now iiiiinnn spaaaaaace.
Yes. But they didn’t have a megaphone to reach millions with one post. They were rightfully looked at as crazy assholes and mostly stayed in the dark.
That’s the idea, overwhelm people with massive amounts of information and misinformation, and people start tuning out and not caring anymore. One thing I did learn from those “propaganda” sources of days past was that the Holocaust was real, a fuckton of minorities were brutally murdered, and Nazis are fucksticks who need to be stamped out at every opportunity.
That is something I’ve actually seen actively changing in the past 20 years. When I was a kid/teen, we never fucking questioned it. Now the Internet is full of Holocaust deniers. Just spreading that shit from person to person like a virus.
We didn’t blindly trust other sources either. Filtering and research is a skill you learn to use on any source of info you’re given. Public schools used to teach us how to do this. Do they not anymore?
The world’s space industry would be even more impressive if we didn’t have these stupid fucking hangups and worked together with them on that front. Just like Russia and the US working to build ISS.
It’s the Amazon store technique. Today, you’re known as “Sohanghi”, tommorow you’re “Elbertung”, next week you’ll be “Smasnug”.
Back in my day we were perfectly capable of checking our own facts. A rare skill these days.
I have an idea. Make it so every time you create a social media account, you have to check “agree” to a giant banner that says “if you take anything you see on here seriously, you are an idiot.”. That’s how we used to automatically treat things on the Internet at first glance.

Back in my day we had to get our Internet at the village Internet well. I remember the dialup modem noises it made as you pulled the bucket up.
“Thought policing” is when you coerce someone to change their thoughts against their will. It is not boycotting a service because one does not agree with the service owner’s thoughts. That is not thought policing. That is a purely voluntary transaction on both sides, and that is one’s right as a consumer of said service. He is not entitled to customers.
