What happened to magicearth? I haven’t used it much, just one of the google alternatives in my “maps” folder.
A tool using primate, probably friendly. Likes cookies.

All true, but it generally shows you search results in a reasonable order and including reliable sources. Like a fine-tuner for Google that doesn’t feed them your data. At least not that we know of…

Looks at Brent over the last 24 months, looks at massive oil tankers offshore everywhere with unsold crude.
Yep, 'bout that time.

EU owns twice as many treasuries as anyone else in the world…it’s be mutual suicide, but their economy would die in a fire.

Guys this is horrible and widely reported here, but pls keep in mind we have a “lame-duck” caretaker government atm before the new ruling coalition forms (it’s taking a hell of a long time and is difficult).
This caretaker government was a coalition with the PVV, who are our modern fascist party, and other “normal” conservatives, so it’s sad but not surprising.

You can track them: https://globalfishingwatch.org/our-map/
You have to sign up for a free account to get the good data. It’s actually not a bad sub for Marine Traffic, Lloyd’s, Seaweb, etc. It has all ships not just fishing ships, and it has satellite not just terrestrial data.
How to search effectively gets a bit of getting used to.
You can only really see it once.

Kinda? The Finns seized a Russian dark fleet vessel with their military and if I remember correctly held her for several days.
There is a LOT of discussion about “safe passage” going on in the EU right now regarding this kind of ship. They are very dangerous because they have no P&I insurance if they have a spill (and you bet your ass they are not maintained to any remotely reasonable standard).
Again, I am not personally in favor of this stuff. Dangerous and irresponsible in multiple ways.

This comment is meant in no way whatsoever to justify this seizure.
That tanker has been dark fleet since at least 2022, and she’s been actively and obviously spoofing since then, e.g., more or less daring the Americas to sanction her, although in a normal world it should have been OFAC doing the sanctioning, not armed marines seizing the ship and cargo.
(Not that I think the sanctions, as they are now constituted, are necessary justified either.)

Yes! Startpage rocks hard. I wish Safari would let it be the default search engine (FF does with a simple plug in).

Anyone have a non AMP link?

That was a good read, well done! I’d be interested if you ever reconsider Startpage. I’ve had good success with that on my work computer.

100% agree. With climate change, folks are not going to stop coming, not going to just stay at home and die. We have to urgently reform the whole immigration system with an emphasis on integration.
And by integration I don’t mean giving up their own cultures or language, but rather that life is better for people when they are comfortable in their environment. You won’t get comfortable if no one shows you how the culture works, which, it’s been my experience, they don’t.

NL would probably take you. Check out: https://dutchpat.nl/finances-admin/taxation-system/netherlands-30-percent-ruling-expat-guide/

We’re still fighting here and still have a free press. Join us.

My fellow Europeans, fight! Keep fighting until we drive them back to their basements!
While 700k may look like a lot (and by most objective measures it is), the skill set needed to run a successful non/not for profit is actually quite unique no matter how big or small it is. They do not work not like “normal” CEOs. Replace caring about share price, and moving the share price up effectively versus caring about voluntary donations from people who get nothing out of but perhaps a tax break. And you’re competing not against other equities (stocks); you’re competing against other non/not for profits for limited money and attention.
Anyway, just saying I do not begrudge that level of compensation to the people running the last corner of the internet not filled with AI slop.
Yes see comment above.
Lovely. Next you’re going to tell me Proton mail went evil. (Thanks for the explanation though! I’ll have a look at Kagi).
