The article describes a few big events and a bunch of other genre based events. Seems like a great idea to me.

11·1 month agoPhones used to be “free” but your bill was higher to cover it. Your bill stayed the same whether you took the “free” phone or not. Now your bill is lower, but buying a phone through the carrier brings it back up. That’s been my experience at least.

The parrying/timing mechanic is what stopped me from buying it, too. I’ve learned I’m too particular about games to buy them on release.

Games@lemmy.world•Sometimes devs intentionally punish players for struggling with the gameEnglish
5·2 months agoI hated black myth wukong and elden ring boss fights, so punishing games really aren’t for me. I finished both plague tale games, though. I usually lower the difficulty quite a bit just to enjoy the story, so maybe the defaults are harder than what I experienced.

Games@lemmy.world•Sometimes devs intentionally punish players for struggling with the gameEnglish
31·2 months agoIf you want a dark game with puzzle style combat and bosses, I can’t recommend a plague tale enough. Innocence is the first one, Requiem is the second one.
There was a game recently on a huge discount that had some great accessibility options. You could change how hard combat was, exploration, and resource scarcity. At least it would have been great if they did anything meaningful. Instead the base game was ridiculously hard, to the point that combat was nearly impossible, and even the easiest options only made it slightly possible. I guess the point was to force you into a certain stealth/no combat play style, but it was just done in a very unfun way. One of the few times I’ve actually refunded a game.

Games@lemmy.world•The Video-Game Industry Has a Problem: There Are Too Many GamesEnglish
8·5 months agoI’ve learned to be more careful with those hyped games. I don’t like souls likes or platformers, but black myth wukong and silksong are both massively popular. I saw enough comments claiming BMW “wasn’t a souls like” that I decided to give it a try. I’m sure there are some technical deviations from the genre to claim it’s its own thing, but fit me it was just a miserable waste of $60.

121·6 months agoVibe coding is asking gpt for code, copying it into your code environment, then telling gpt about any errors or issues. The problem is that it actually works a significant amount of the time, let’s be generous and say 80%. Another 15% of the time it cannot solve a problem itself. And finally the worst possible outcome is the last 5%, where it creates a seemingly working solution that actually breaks on edge cases or has potential security issues.

I’ve found some very limited use for house projects so I can show my partner what I’m thinking of instead of trying to sketch something. Visualizing house paint also made getting HOA approval much easier. It’s all stuff that could have been done with a pencil and paper or with regular photo editing software instead, though, and absolutely doesn’t justify the costs.
The AI edit to show house color also made some weird structural changes, like changing light fixtures, adding gutters, and replacing a retaining wall.
