Endeavour was the one I actually installed to my drive some years ago after spinning up a handful of “classic” recommended distros in a VM (Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora, etc).

It was recommended to me by a close family member who had used Linux for a while, but we’re both in IT/tech.

My SO, on the other hand, while quite intelligent and capable of troubleshooting absolutely detests having to touch the CLI or open their PC tower.

It heavily depends on the end user and what they want to do, not just what they’re capable of. Frustration isn’t limited to incapability.

That’s a completely fair question and point.

My being an adult skews my answer, so idk if it’s a fair one but I recently went to a local concert and had a blast with the other people there. What makes me, as an individual, excited overall is knowing other people will be there and the place will feel alive.

Unstructured but available activity seems to be the unifying theme for the location attractions of our own pasts. I don’t have a perfect solution but identifying the issues seems to be a step, at least.

This isn’t a specific platform problem, it’s a social problem and needs social solutions.

The erosion of free (or mostly free), teen-friendly physical third spaces is a big part of this problem, imo. As is the culture of clamping down on kids’ free movement irl. Young people need to have safe spots to hang out together without being pressured to spend money or have a ton of adults breathing down their necks.

Not saying that misogyny or bigotry would disappear, but bringing these back in an accessible way could allow kids to grow again without dealing with corporate surveillance apparatuses as their only social lifeline.

I quite enjoyed hanging out with my friends without having a flood of antisocial adults hurl venom at us on repeat. They deserve that chance too.

All good. From my non-professional perspective so far it mostly looks like real-time-kit is pretty active, which seems to be primarily for enabling audio.

Are you having issues with audio? Or are you maybe having trouble with GOG after you start it?

Even unreal engine 4 can be rough on mid-range specs.

Playing an 8GB UE4 game on my steam deck I’d get drops to 17 FPS in some spots.

Have you checked the output of, say, “journalctl -b -2”? This would give you a system log of messages that go back to two boot sessions ago and normally show you what happened just before that first shutdown.

This could be drivers, background processes, hardware, no way to know without starting by looking at logs. Hell, I’ve had a monitor crash out my system multiple times and I wouldn’t have ever guessed if I didn’t check my logs and dmesg output.

I have the 2DSXL, and have played about half of those. I was just sad it was primarily limited to mostly online (Pushmo’s servers are dead) and first-party titles. I was a GBA/DS kid so expected wider variety beyond that.

It’s a fantastic little device for modding though!

I thought Apple/most smartphones would never move to USB-C, or away from proprietary chargers. Pleasantly surprised - thank you EU.

I thought VR was finally going to take off as the next major gaming experience when the Vive came out. Unfortunately it remains niche.

I thought Linux was going to be unusable for gaming/mainstream use cases for much longer, but Valve has made huge strides on that with Proton, and OSS devs making things like Heroic for other stores has been awesome. Also shoutout to KDE for, well, everything. Krita, KDE connect, Plasma. LibreOffice has also come a very long way.

I also thought we’d never get another steam controller. Also pleasantly surprised.
