  • That’s no excuse. Nobody gets fed more conservative propaganda than America, and yet a full 2/3 are absolutely against our War in Iran, and most of that remaining 1/3 are lying.

The Israelis have had ample opportunity to reign in their aggression toward their neighbors for years, and they’ve only gotten worse. In the beginning it was defensive, but somewhere along the line, they became the aggressor, and now it isn’t Israel who has to worry about the Middle East, it’s the Middle East, and indirectly, everyone else, who has to worry about Israel.

  • You say this, and I have no animosity toward individual Jews at all.

But it is a simple fact that the Israeli citizens, who are mostly Jews, are nearly fully behind all of the atrocities their country is committing. They overwhelmingly supported the Gaza Genocide, and they support the civilian bombings of Iran and Lebanon.

I don’t blame Jews around the world in general, but the Israeli CITIZENS shouldn’t get a pass for their support of their government’s atrocities just because they are Jews.

  • Back when 3D printers were brand-new, I was at a college event where the Engineering Club had one on display. I stopped to watch it, and spoke with the kid who had built it. He was a Freshman, and had built it during the previous summer, because he wanted to come to college and make an instant splash in the Engineering Department.

He certainly succeeded, because he was the one in the booth that everybody wanted to talk to, while the upperclassmen that hadn’t accomplished anything, sat in the back of the booth and glowered at the Freshman upstart.

So anyway, if they ban them, we’ll just build them.

  • Absolutely, and the Republicans have OWNED their vote since the Bay of Pigs. They totally blamed JFK (rightfully) and the Dems ever since. That’s why they’ve always been so loyal to each other.

The problem was that Republicans always figured that all Hispanics were the same, so if the Cubans were in their side, so were the Puerto Ricans, Central Americans, South Americans, etc. As more and more people from those regions became citizens and started voting, it became apparent they weren’t the supporters that they were assumed to be. There seems to be some MAGA support, but it isn’t solid, and it isn’t certain. That’s why they threw the Hispanics to the ICE Wolves.

I suspect it is also why Trump is sabre-rattling about Cuba. Cubans may have started to worry that they’ll start getting targeted (I haven’t heard of Cuban deportations), so Trump is soothing their very loyal MAGA fears that they shouldn’t worry, he’s not going to deport them, he’s going to LIBERATE CUBA!

    Then he’ll deport them.

  • Even a massive nation like America needs allies, so a small one is going to need them even more.

Sure, there is always the chance that someone bigger will take over in some way, but what else is a small country going to do? That’s just life. They can’t get along alone, so they have to seek out alliances of many kinds - political, military, trade, educational, etc. You just have to choose your partners carefully, and hope they don’t undergo a major political shift, and suddenly become predatory.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what’s happened with America.

  • And this is important, why? Is there some reason we keep abusing the Cubans? They haven’t been Soviet for decades. ALL the leaders we were mad at are dead. Their current hatred for America is more based on how badly America treats Cuba, than politics.

And most Americans have no animosity toward Cuba at all. Just the opposite, in fact. Most Americans would LOVE to visit Cuba. Cruise Ships would love to dock there. And American corporations would love an entirely new country close off our coast to exploit.

Opening up trade with Cuba is a win-win, but there is so much negative political inertia that they don’t seem to be able to stop.
