1·6 days agoThe 5k monitor is a 49 inch model from MSI. The laptop is a compact model from Lenovo, a Yoga Pro something or other. Not sure what its resolution is (3k something by 2k something from what I remember), just that it’s needlessly high for its screen size, requiring UI scaling.

1·6 days agoSure, native resolution, no zoom, it’s fine.
Not so on my laptop with an insane resolution of like 2k by 3k on a 13 or 14 inch screen though.

1·7 days agoI’m using a 5k by 1200 monitor and it’s awesome with Kde. I suppose it would be equally great with other interfaces.

1·20 days agoIt seems to me that things like
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues?label_name[]=9000+dGPU+series
Are a fairly good example of the problems that many people are having. Note they’re not very random but tend to follow a distinct motif. The driver freezes the display or the system at random times. And if it’s such a rare occurrence, I must be so very lucky.
I’m not saying that one brand is better than the other. Just that the endless shills saying that AMD is the Linux messiah are both tiresome and wrong. There can be, and are, many problems with AMS din Linux, just like there are with nVidia.
