I’m building a new home theater PC and figured that since all it’ll be used for is gaming, streaming and media playback, why not go for Linux? My choice of distros has basically come down to Mint and Bazzite, and I’m leaning towards Bazzite, but there’s one massive question mark sitting in my brain. After the initial setup, the PC is going to use exclusively wireless peripherals, since it’s gonna be sitting across the room from me and I’m not dangling cables over the gaps for my cat to jump into. I’ve got a Logitech K400+ wireless keyboard and Xbox One controllers, what are the odds that I’ll get them working properly? Preferably without spending a week trawling Github? The devices will have to be connected via the official wireless dongles, since the PC doesn’t have Bluetooth. And I don’t think the keyboard even supports anything except the dongle.
EDIT: Alright, looks like it’ll be a rather painless experience! Dope! Also checked ProtonDB for the games I’m playing, or planning to play, on this thing and everything is at least gold-rated.

Chances are they will work without issue.
USB drivers aren’t something you’ll need to go searching for, most chipset drivers are something built into the kernel.
Bazzites’ use of a modern up to date kernel and the fact that USB HID works better on Linux than windows should benefit you. Furthermore it builds on Valves work supporting as many input devices as humanly possible with Steam.
The only concern you should have are things like RGB or non-standard hardware that requires extra software to operate. One of these things is an XBox One controller as it’s not a standard USB HID
I found a reddit post from a year or so ago, reportedly Bazzite has drivers for the dongle out of the box. I’m a little more concerned about the keyboard+touchpad combo, since I’d imagine that’s not quite a standard device. Fortunately, I give negative fucks about any RGB, so I really don’t care if any RGB the components happen to have don’t even light up.
That’s very standard.
Even the touchpads on PS4 and 5 controllers work as mice out of the box.
the keyboard+mouse combo is a standard device and will work fine without any configuration. bazzite includes xone, again, chances are it will just work.
I can confirm my K400 works flawlessly on my Optiplex SFF running Bazzite, using the dongle. Even two finger scrolling works out of the box.
Bazzite is a great choice, I used it for 2 years as a htpc and it was perfect for what I needed.
Never used a wireless xbox controller, but it paired immediately with two PS4 controllers. I also had a generic wireless keyboard with its own usb receiver, and that was fine just plug and play.
Think you’ve already got enough (positive!) feedback, but just to add that even other distros are fine with wireless peripherals. I did have to enable the bluetooth service to start up on switch on, apart from that no issues using wireless mouse, keyboard and dualsense controller on EndeavourOS
I’m using Bazzite with the Microsoft Wireless Controller and it’s working fine with one caveat. The controller requires a firmware update that requires a Windows OS or an Xbox.
Gaming on Bazzite has been great although trying to figure out how to install software on it is a little bit more difficult since it’s an immutable distro.
I’ve used a wireless mouse, keyboard and xbox series controller with my Bazzite desktop. I usually use the proprietary Microsoft adapter with my controller and it just works. Occasionally I will have to disconnect and reconnect the adapter so it will pair, but that’s about it. Using bluetooth for the controller works too
I have Bazzite on my home entertainment handheld. I use it on the big screen with my TV using a dock and I have the logi bolt setup with a keyboard and mouse and it works flawlessly. But the logi app doesn’t work with Bazzite as far as I’m aware.
All the controllers I have work without issue, so long as you have handheld daemon setup. So that’s pretty easy.
