      Abusers always try to hide in plain sight. The type of abuse doesn’t matter. And they try to surround themselves in a cloak of protection from what they are.

      It’s the same thing fascists do, wrap themselves in the flag and “protect” from the “others”, projecting power through violence, as a threat.

      Its unfortunately an effective strategy to hide their crimes. They speak vocally about harsh treatment of the people that do their type of harm and slowly escalate with their victims.

      People see them being real close friends with a member of their church, then dismiss it because they know their public opinion on predators. After a while they start seeing their victims outside of church or whatever it happens to be. Other parents think it’s weird but dismiss it again because of the predators’ outspoken opinions and it’s not too much further than their interactions with the victim in church. They’re boiling the frog. The last step is getting so close with the victim that the victim begins to see them as one of their closest friends and helps bring others into the abuse either through photos or physically.
