Was surprised no one bothered to post this give how big of a reaction this story got.

Wanted to post the update and correction cause that deserves to be seen just as much. This seems like a reasonable, thoughtful handling of the issue.

I still don’t really wanna use Ubuntu though 😅

I’m not sure I follow- has Ubuntu had issues with their stance on diversity before? If I understand right this forum was only recently made official and they hadn’t carefully enough reviewed the pre-existing rules

It just occurred to me that the specific tone of the writing sounded more like developers writing about a bug than people addressing human issues.

I don’t follow Ubuntu politics and hope they can learn from this experience.

Ahhh, okay, I understand what you meant now.

        Thank you for clarifying :)

Also I swear to god, you ask a single question because you don’t follow what someone meant, and everyone decides the person you’re asking is doing wrong somehow and starts downvoting them. We really gotta figure our shit out

Yeah, I wasn’t trying to offer commentary. It was pure observation.

The irony in all of this is that we all bring expectation and prejudice to any discussion (and to think we don’t is pure hubris). So, I expected my extemporaneous comment to be controversial when I hit that post button.
