I joined Lemmy back in 2020 and have been using it as @qaz@lemmy.ml until somewhere in 2023 when I switched to lemmy.world. I’m interested in systemd/Linux, FOSS, and Selfhosting.

4·1 month agoI’m not so sure about Mars settlements being a productive thing to spend resources on, but I do agree that unemployment can cause grave social and political issues.
It’s very easy to blame “others” and this time it’s going to be “the foreigners”.

6·2 months ago“Fast” international money transfer without value fluctuations. AFAIK, it’s used to send money back overseas without fees and for online casinos. Most stablecoins are based on the USD, which has been dropping due to the actions of a certain person. It seems like a reasonable decision to create an “official” euro stablecoin. The EU has been pushing for an EU payment processor to avoid reliance on US based / connected payment countries, this seems like it might be related to that.

1·2 months agoThe largest political part in the last election is the populist PVV. It’s lead by “Geert Wilders” who blames everything on foreigners. The 3rd largest party, the VVD has gone full populist (more than before) now after their previous leader Mark Rutte left, although they’ve hit a bit of a snag after their new leader called a famous Dutch singer of being a antisemitist because he refused to sing at a place with Zionist posters. This backfired because this is somehow their only recent scandal that people care about.
It’s a mess, the coalition hasn’t been able to get much done due to infighting and election season is coming up, so there are going to be a bunch of right-wing populist proposals purely for optics just like this one.

I’ve had a theory for a while that most marketing is targeted at neurotypical people, and that it is therefore far less effective on some neurodivergent people. People love to act like neurodivergent people are immune to marketing and propaganda. Maybe the detail-oriented ness of someone with ASD does ruin a narrative, but I feel that it’s mostly just that people and companies aren’t used to targeting these demographics.

There are glitch tokens but I think those only effect it when using it.
I think the issue is that the scrapers are fully automatically collecting text, jumping from link to link like a search engine indexer.
